The Westonka Activities Department is proud to name Mound Westonka High School junior Lauren Miller Westonka Athletic/Activities Student of the Week for the Week of Aug. 31, 2015.
Recent girls swimming highlights: In the White Hawks’ season opener against St. Peter, Miller swam a personal best to take second in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking 1:20.65. She placed fourth in the 200 IM and was part of the third-place 200 Free Relay team.
Comments from head girls swim coach Tim Daly: Lauren is a swimmer that leads by example. She is usually first in the pool every day and last to leave, making sure everything is picked up and in its proper place. At meets, she never sits; she is up and cheering her teammates on in all the events.
She is willing to step out of her comfort zone and swim events that may not be her favorite but are where the team needs her. She works with our younger swimmers with patience and kindness. Out of the pool, Lauren is a straight-A student and a master at fencing.
Teamwork. Leadership. Respect. Integrity. Excellence.
