The sun was out and the temperatures were perfect for tennis the first week in May, but unfortunately for the White Hawks boys team, the results didn’t match the weather. On May 2, for the first matchup of the week, the White Hawks traveled to Orono to face off against their conference rival. The White Hawks lost 0-7 to a strong Spartans team.
The players and their families celebrated Parents’ Night on May 3 with a home conference match against Litchfield, followed by a picnic. The White Hawks lost 2-5, with victories tallied by sophomore Victor Nelson at second singles, 6-2, 6-2, and seventh-grader Jack Linder at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-2.

On May 5, the team traveled to Holy Family for their final conference match of the week. The final score was 1-6 with a lone victory by the third doubles team of junior Andrew LaFortune and seventh-grader Alex Brown, 6-3, 6-1. The second doubles team of seniors Alex LaFortune and Jack Reinhardt almost pulled out a victory with a close loss in a third set tiebreaker, 2-6, 7-5, 6-7 (7-4). The varsity team is currently 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the Wright County Conference.

The JV boys team had much better results last week, winning all three of their matches. They were victorious over Orono 4-3, Litchfield 5-0 and Holy Family 5-2. The team is now 7-1 overall with their only loss being a close one to Chanhassen, 3-4.
