The Mound Westonka High School boys tennis team took on its final Wright County Conference opponent May 12 when they faced off against Delano. The White Hawks were victorious at home with a 5-2 win.
Playing at first singles, sophomore Victor Nelson stepped in for Tony Levens, who was ill, and won 6-2, 7-6. At second singles, sophomore Reed Kohls came out with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Seniors Jack Reinhardt and Alex LaFortune won at the second doubles spot, 6-1, 6-2. The third doubles team of ninth-grader Charlie Reinhardt and junior Andrew LaFortune posted a very tight 7-6, 7-6 win.
The marathon match of the day was at third singles. Seventh-grader Jack Linder took 2 hours and 20 minutes to defeat his opponent in a nailbiter 6-7, 7-6, 11-9 win.
The White Hawks ended conference play with a 2-4 record.
