The White Hawks Chapter of the National Honor Society is partnering with Memorial Blood Centers (MBC) to host a Blood Drive at Mound Westonka High School on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Each year, according to the MBC, 16 million units of blood are transfused in the United States to accident victims, blood loss victims, cancer patients, premature infants, etc. Last school year, MWHS collected 105 units of blood in two drives, impacting up to 283 patient lives.
“In our first drive this year, we hope to collect over 50 units of blood, saving up to 150 lives in community hospitals and medical centers,” said NHS advisor Aurora Meunier.
Staff members and students ages 16 and above have the opportunity to participate. All donors need a photo ID and to be in good health. You are encouraged to eat well and to drink lots of water before donation. Students who are 16 years old must complete a parent consent form in advance.
Thank you for participating in this important program!
