Prom travelers started their journey at the grand march and coronation in the Mound Westonka High School gym. Families, friends, and students filled the bleachers to watch as the travelers took off on their prom adventure with the crowning of Prom Queen Clara Godoy-Henderson and Prom King Max Englert.
Other members of the prom court included seniors Calli Battis, Marshall Boser, Evan Dahl, Sydney Hermanson, Owen Mather, Hank Nagel, Victor Nelson, Leah Richter, Madison Schmidt, Hannah Swanson, Philipp Weltin and Audrey Woychick.
Student Senate spent several weeks creating the backdrop that provided the main attraction to the decor this year. The walkway looked like a runway and students had their photos taken directly beneath a plane taking flight.
Following coronation, prom travelers headed to the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, where the night began with a social hour in the Lakeview Room. Students took pictures on the deck and socialized while being entertained by a student band consisting of seniors Piper Bruce, Ben McCurry, Brandon Ung and Jack Zimmerman, along with juniors Nick Drilling, Emma Jordahl, Megan Larson and Jasper Treat.
In keeping with the theme, dinner was served in three different stations: a “South of the Border” full taco bar; an “All Over Asia” station with fried rice, pot stickers and spring rolls; and a “Taste of Italy” pasta bar.
Students danced to DJ Matt Kallas and enjoyed cookies and milk for dessert to finish off the evening.
“We had a great turnout,” said advisor Jamie Harms. “Student Senate worked hard to put together a fun event for their peers.”
