The Westonka Activities Department is proud to name Mound Westonka High School senior Javarn (TJ) Hillman and junior Maya Thurston Athletic/Activities Students of the Week for the week of May 14, 2018.
Hillman has had a great year in track this year. He competes in the 100 and 200 meters, as well as anchors the 4×100 relay. He is also a great long jumper. Hillman is seeded in the Top 3 in the Wright County Conference in each of those events. He is a quiet leader, hard worker and a great athlete to have on the team.
Thurston is running really well this spring. She moved up from the sprints to be a middle distance runner and mainly competes in the 800, 4×400 and 4×800. Thurston is an extremely tough athlete, never giving up in any race. She is a fantastic leader, nice kid and helps lead the younger athletes.
Both of these two athletes help lead the White Hawks track team of more than 140 kids. They lead by example with their work ethic, cheerful attitudes and are always ready to help out when and where they can.
Congratulations, TJ and Maya!
Teamwork. Leadership. Respect. Integrity. Excellence.
