White Hawks News · Westonka Softball Celebrates Season

A banquet on Monday June 11th celebrated the successful yet condensed softball season. Varsity coaches Scott Eidsness and Eddie Kutz (assisted by Luke Rose) reported that the team had 27 indoor practices due to weather and played their entire 20 game regular season in 21 days. The coaches noted that the team extended their season as they peaked in time for playoffs. Their strong skills and teamwork led them through sections to the final game.
Varsity ended with a second-place finish in the competitive 6AAA sections. They had a 17-9 overall record and third place finish in conference with a 10-4 record.
JV had a 10-9 record. This is remarkable as the team is comprised of young 7th through 9th grade players competing with teams of older high school players. They had a team batting average of .331; team ERA of 4.11; ON-BASE-PERCENTATGE of .408; and 59 stolen bases. Coaches Jen Keller and Tony Royal (missing: Pete Westby) express that these athletes have a lot of promise and will contribute to building an ongoing successful program.
