In the Section 5AA volleyball tournament, Mound Westonka came in as the sixth seed and sat out the first round with a bye. In the second round, the White Hawks beat Breck at home on Oct. 26 in three games. On the road Oct. 30 at Rockford, the teams battled with some long volleys, but Westonka could not close out the fourth game and lost 3-1 (16-25, 18-25, 26-24 and 23-25). The White Hawks ended the season with an 11-13 overall record.
In the Stats
Serving: Five players had a successful serve percentage of 90 or higher: seniors Grace Bowe 100 percent, Isabel Speakman 93 percent, Jennifer Schaible 93 percent and Maddy White 92 percent, and junior Sydney Ryks 90 percent. The team serve average was 89 percent. Leading in service aces were Schaible with 33 and junior Melissa Drill and sophomore Carissa Richie with 25 each.
Hitting: Richie dominated kills with 218, followed by Ryks with 159 and Schaible with 112. Speakman and Schaible each had 18 percent hitting average, followed closely by Richie with 17 percent.
Defense: Schaible led with 50 total blocks, followed by Drill with 38 and senior Ellie Skogsberg with 28. Defensive digs were led by Richie with 209, Schaible with 198 and Ryks at 172.
Setters/Assists: Speakman hit her 1,000th assist this year with 393 total on the season, followed by senior Melanie Musselman with 166 assists.
The team will celebrate the season with a banquet on Saturday, Nov. 10.
