With the weather finally cooperating, the Mound Westonka High School boys tennis team was able to get in two conference matches. First up was a trip to New Prague on April 16 to take on the Trojans. The White Hawks came out strong and went home with a 6-1 victory.
Winning for the team were sophomore Jack Linder, first singles, 6-0, 6-0; junior Josh Hadden, second singles, 6-2, 6-2; seventh-grader Carter Reinbold, third singles, 6-2, 6-0; sophomore Dylan Skaja, fourth singles, 6-2, 6-0; seniors Thomas Elliott and Andrew Abegglen, first doubles, 6-1, 6-2; and senior Connor Madsen and sophomore Harry Moen, third doubles, 6-1, 6-2. The JV team also had a convincing 7-0 win.
Next up was a a home court visit from Hutchinson on April 18. Once again, the White Hawks came out with rackets ready and put away the Tigers 7-0. JV also won to a small Tigers team, 3-1.
The varsity team is currently 2-0 in conference play and 3-1 overall. The schedule stays busy with upcoming away matches at Litchfield on April 25, a team tournament in Hibbing on April 27 and at Southwest Christian on April 29 (JV will play at home). The next home match for the White Hawks will be April 30 against the Orono Spartans. The boys will celebrate their parents and seniors with a picnic after that match. Come help cheer the team on to another victory!
