The Mound Westonka/Watertown-Mayer/Southwest Christian girls hockey teams took to the ice on Oct. 28 for the start of the 2019-2020 season. Last season, the White Hawks were undefeated during the regular season and won their quarterfinal game at the state tournament for the first time.
Fifteen letterwinners return, led by junior tri-captains Taylor Leonard, Grace Peterson and Brooke Pioske. Over 40 girls hit the ice for tryouts this season, up from 33 players a year ago.
The White Hawks will begin their season with a road game at Section opponent New Ulm on Thursday, Nov. 7. The home opener is Tuesday, Nov. 12 vs. Woodbury. The Royals are one of five new opponents on the schedule for the White Hawks, as they beefed up their schedule again this season. Other new opponents include Dodge County, Chaska/Chanhassen, Chisago Lakes and Mahtomedi.
We encourage you to come out and support the girls this season!
