Varsity Dance · 2020 State Dance Tournament Information


The Mound Westonka High School Hawkettes Dance Team is once again headed to the state tournament! The varsity jazz team was named Section Champion at the 3AA Dance Team Tournament on Feb. 1, and the varsity kick team took second place. This will be the team’s 14th consecutive trip to state.

State Dance Tournament Information

The state jazz tournament will be held at Target Center in Minneapolis on Friday, Feb. 14. The Hawkettes take the floor at approximately 3:20 p.m. The top six teams will be announced and will compete in the finals at 7:15 that night.

The state kick tournament will be held at Target Center on Saturday, Feb. 15. The Hawkettes take the floor at approximately 2:40 p.m. The kick finals will take place at 7:15 p.m.

General admission tickets for the tournament are $16 for adults and $10 for students. More information can be found on the Target Center website.

Student Fan Bus

A fan bus to the state dance tournament will leave from the MWHS north parking lot at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14. The Hawkettes will dance at 3:20 p.m., and finalists are announced at 4:15 p.m. The bus will return to MWHS after prelims and should be back to school around 5:15 p.m.

The cost to ride the fan bus is $10, and tickets to the dance tournament can be purchased at the door for an additional $10. Bus payment must be made to Activities Director Jeff Peterson by Tuesday, Feb. 11, to be eligible to board the bus.
