The Mound Westonka High School boys basketball team earned its first section win in seven years Wednesday night when the third-seeded White Hawks defeated sixth-seeded Minneapolis Edison in the Section 6AAA Tournament.

Edison started out with a tough and aggressive defense, but the White Hawks were able to step up to that challenge and came away with a 65-51 victory. Senior Jameson Sexton led the team in scoring with 23 points, followed by senior Jayden Heimermann with 13 and sophomore Jason Spaeth with 11. Leading the way with defensive rebounds were junior Logan Leonard and senior Connor Prok, both with 6, with Prok also posting a dunk in the second half.

The White Hawks move on to the section semifinal game against No. 2-seeded Waconia on Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at Waconia High School. The boys would love to see lots of fans turn out to support, so come and cheer on your White Hawks!
