To honor our students, staff, community members and especially our Mound Westonka High School 2020 senior class, Westonka Schools is joining districts across the state and nation in the #BeTheLightMN movement. On Friday nights this spring, lights at Haddorff Field will flip on at 8:00 p.m. for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
On Friday, May 1, we will pay special recognition to the MWHS boys tennis team that had its season interrupted this year due to the threat of COVID-19. On April 23, the Minnesota State High School League announced that spring athletics and fine arts have been canceled for the remainder of their seasons. Please join us in posting photos, memories and messages to the White Hawks boys tennis team on social media using the hashtags #BeTheLightMN and #MWHSPride.
As a reminder, Haddorff Field and Westonka’s other athletic facilities are closed to students and the public in compliance with the statewide stay-at-home order. Please do not gather under the lights, but you may enjoy them from your car as you drive by. We will post photos and videos to our Twitter account, @GoWhiteHawks.
The boys tennis team has four graduating seniors: Anders Erdahl, Josh Hadden (captain), David Godoy-Henderson and Hampton Velarde. Head coach Rob Paul had a special message for the team.
Boys Tennis Families,
We miss the opportunity to celebrate this spring season with all of you! We hope you are all staying healthy and happy during these trying times. Seniors, your example of leadership, camaraderie, and continuous effort to improve will always be with us. You not only did it, you crushed it! Stay positive and stay united!
