Gymnastics Team Claims Conference Title

The Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka varsity gymnastics team claimed the Wright County Conference Championship, winning with a season high over Waconia and Orono on Jan. 28. Mound Westonka High School ninth-grader Teagan Schmidt led the team on bars, taking first place. Schmidt also pulled off an impressive second-place performance on beam and second place on floor.

Gymnasts Place Sixth at True Team State

The Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka varsity gymnastics team competed Jan. 23 in the Class A State True Team meet in Willmar against the best teams in Minnesota. The Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka gymnastics team defeated six other teams to win the 41st Annual Watertown-Mayer Gymnastics Invitational on Jan. 2. With a score of 142.3, Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka came out ahead of Eastview (135.5), Mankato West (132.4), Apple Valley (131.25), Mankato East (125.2), St. Peter (117.6) and Orono (116.5). Westonka Gymnast Heads to State!

Mound Westonka High School eighth-grader Teagan Schmidt is headed to the Minnesota State High School League State Gymnastics Tournament Feb. 20-21. For the first time in 16 years, Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka won the Section 2A team title Feb. 13 with a score of 145.725, followed by New Prague (143.75), Mankato West (141.2), Waconia (136.65) and Waseca
